Embrace this new Technology

Ever since the phone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell, there haven't been many significant changes. We now have more features, such as call display, call waiting and multiple lines, but the basis of the process has remained virtually the same. Until now that is. Voice over Internet protocol is the wave of the future and millions of people the world over are embracing this new technology as the definitive way to make long distance calls. The main difference between this and the regular telephony service is that the connection is through the Internet, which runs through your computer. The signals are no longer sent via telephone signals but rather a group of smaller packets that flow through your Internet connection.

Can anyone use Voice over Internet Protocol?

Some people might think that VoIP can only be used by those who excel at using computers. In fact, this could not be further from the truth. The process is so simple that you will be wondering why you did not try it out in the past. One of the most common ways to achieve VoIP is through a provider such as Skype, Verizon or VOIP.com. In most cases, they will send you a handset that you simply plug into the USH port of your computer. In most cases, this will be at the back of your computer but some newer models have it right on the front of the tower. Simply plug it in, visit the website of the provider, and you can instantly start making long distance calls.

Is the quality the same?

Some people are turned off of VoIP because they fear they will lose sound quality. Although this was true at the beginning, advancements in the field have made it possible to hear the calls just as clearly as you would on your normal phone. And since you will be saving countless dollars, there is no reason to not invest in VoIP technology today.
